Día de los Muertos – Traditional Altar and Free Food at La Clinica
November 1 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
We celebrate Día de los Muertos as an organization to honor the Hispanic, Latino, and Latinx communities in our service area and beyond, as well as members of our team who identify with these communities.
To honor Día de los Muertos, Minnesota Community Care is organizing a clinic-based event:
- Calacas and Altars: HIV Health Educator Mario Villeda Maldonado, with support from HIV Health Educator Melissa Rodriguez, constructed calacas and altars that will be on display at La Clinica and at East Side Clinic from October 21st through November 5th. The altars also have a space for staff and patients to place photos of loved ones who have passed, if they choose to do so.
- Activities: In addition, the HIV Programs team is organizing activities at La Clinica on November 1st and at East Side Clinic on November 2nd, including:
- 9am-3pm | HIV testing and free traditional candies
- 11am-1pm | Free champurrado and sweet bread for staff and patients from Maru’s Kitchen MN Food Truck
