SUMMARY:Legal Help Name Change Clinic
DESCRIPTION:CLPHC is hosting a one-day name change event where MCC patients can receive free help with the legal name change process. MCC patients may also use the name change process to legally change gender markers. We hope that this gender-affirming legal service will work in tandem with the care already offered by MCC transgender and gender non-conforming patients. \nWho is CLPHC?\nThe Community Legal Partnership for Health (CLPHC)  is a medical legal partnership staffed by certified student attorneys from the University of Minnesota Law School. They partner with local clinics to offer free\, civil legal services with no income guidelines. \nHow do name changes work?\nThe legal name change process involves filling out an application\, turning it in at a local courthouse\, and attending a hearing in front of a judge. Patients can receive guidance and instruction on how to file out the necessary paperwork and successfully navigate the court system. \nWhat They Do\nWe offer free civil legal services on a walk-in basis\, including advice\, brief service\, representation\, and referrals. \nWhen and Where\nSaturday\, April 15th from 9:30am – 12:00pm\nLa Clínica (153 Cesar Chávez\, St. Paul)\n \nWho Qualifies?\nIf you are at least 18 years old\, have lived in Minnesota for at least six months\, and wish to file in the county you live in\, you qualify! \nSchedule an Appointment\nPlease call (612) 625-5515 or request your provider refer you to book an appointment.\n \nThe clinic will take place on April 15th from 9:30-12:30 at La Clinica West Side.\nAll information you share with us is kept confidential.
