Lisa Smith, CNM

Lisa was born and raised in Minneapolis. She became interested in working in Health Care when her brother was hospitalized with a serious illness at the University of MN. She earned her first college degree from UCLA and joined the Peace Corps soon after as a Health Educator in Ecuador. In Ecuador she worked in Maternal Child programs and decided that was where her heart was. Returning to MN, she studied for her Nurse-Midwife career at the University of MN and attended her first births at HCMC and Regions (Ramsey) Hospitals. She also worked for years in emergency rooms and as a parenting and prenatal educator at La Clinica. Lisa was hired in January 1995 as Minnesota Community Cares first midwife and has followed thousands of women through their reproductive lifetime and attended about 1600 births. She lives on the East Side of St Paul has one adult daughter of her own and enjoys music, travel and the outdoors in her free time. She speaks Spanish fluently and loves working with a diverse population of clients.
